Forestry mulching
Mulch brush, saplings and suitable trees right where they stand. Choose Standard Mulch or Fine Mulch, depending on how small you want the material processed and what the site allows.

Forestry mulching isn't just a summer job. Once the ground freezes firm enough to support equipment, winter can be a great time to get into low, wet or boggy spots that are difficult to access in warmer weather.
Ask us about winter workBetter access to soft groundFirmly frozen conditions can make some wet areas workable while helping reduce rutting compared with unfrozen ground.
Get a head start on future plansOpen up an area for a new fence line, spring dirt work or a property project before the busy season.
Frozen brush can break up differentlySome green trees and woody growth become more brittle in the cold, which can help the mulcher process them.
Every winter job is different. Ground frost, snow depth, access, and site conditions determine whether equipment can work safely. Winter clearing still leaves mulch and doesn't replace excavation or grading.
From making barbed-wire fences easier to check and repair to opening a trail, cleaning up pasture, or clearing space for a new shop, we tackle the overgrowth that's in your way.

Ask about this service ↗Clear brush and standing dead trees from overgrown barbed-wire fence lines. Make it easier to walk the fence, inspect and repair wire, and reduce the risk of dead trees blowing down onto fences and letting livestock out.
Ask about this service ↗Open a path to the back of your property or through a patch of bush. Create access to a tucked-away camping spot, a hunting area, or a favourite corner of your land while keeping the trees you want.
Ask about this service ↗Take back overgrown corners, field edges, and sections of pasture where brush and young trees have moved in. Get better access to usable ground without clearing more than you need.
Ask about this service ↗Mulch suitable fallen trees, tangled deadwood, and old brush or slash piles that are in the way. Larger logs can be cut, stacked, or handled separately by arrangement.
Ask about this service ↗Need a spot opened up for a new shop, garage, yard expansion, or other building project? We can clear the trees and brush so the next stage of site preparation can begin. Grading and finished building pads are separate work.

A stand of mature trees had become choked with thick buckbrush, grass, and young poplars — some roughly eight feet tall. The growth made it difficult to walk through or reach parts of the property.
We mulched the smaller growth beneath the trees and opened access to the surrounding land, leaving selected larger trees standing. It made the area easier to get into, see through, and use.
This was a Standard Mulch finish. With that much material to process, a heavier layer of mulch on the ground is normal. Fine Mulch can be discussed depending on the property and job goals.
Tell us about your overgrown areaDense buckbrush, young trees and thick undergrowth restricted movement and visibility beneath the mature trees.
Mulching opened up the understory and connections toward the field while keeping selected mature trees in place.
Switch between three views of the wooded area to see the heavy growth before the job and the opened understory afterward.

These are real photos from the same job, taken in different seasons, light and positions. Each comparison shows the kind of change across the project, not an exact camera-matched angle.
Additional finished-work views show the field edge, a newly opened passage, and the view back toward the house.

Every property is different. A few details up front help us understand equipment access, vegetation, and hidden obstacles before estimating how much time the job may take.
Choose the work, tell us how you want the mulch finished or larger trees handled, and describe access and possible hazards.
We look over the details and any pictures you send. Some projects may need a property walkthrough before we can give a useful estimate.
We'll discuss the scope, tree-handling or finish options, estimated hours, equipment rate, and transport charges before scheduling.
Based in Lacombe County, Peak Value Land Services works throughout a big stretch of Central Alberta — from farms and pastures to acreages and residential properties.
These aren't hard borders. Job size, scheduling, site access, and mobilization distance all factor into where we can go.

We're Scott and Kathy Van Dijk, pictured here with our two sons. Central Alberta is home for our family, and we're proud to build Peak Value Land Services here.
Scott is the owner and operator. Whether we're opening up a fence line, reclaiming an overgrown area, or making room for something new, our goal is simple: help you get more use and value out of your property.
Get in touch with usQuestions about a fence line, a new trail, cleaning up your acreage, or clearing a building site? Call us to discuss your plans and what the work involves. Based in Lacombe County and working roughly from Leduc to Airdrie and Castor to Rocky Mountain House, with longer trips considered for bigger jobs.
A little information goes a long way. Pick the answers that fit, add your own notes, and let us know what matters most. No measurements? No problem — "not sure" is fine.
We work on an hourly equipment basis, with mobilization to and from the job billed separately. Any time or cost estimate is an approximation, not a fixed or guaranteed final total. Actual hours can change with hidden wire, rocks, debris, difficult ground, thicker growth or a change in the work requested. We'll go over rates and the plan with you before starting.
Not sure whether your property is a fit? Here's what usually comes up.
Yes! Forestry mulching can continue into fall and winter when site conditions allow. Firmly frozen ground can help us reach wet or boggy areas that are too soft at other times, making it a good opportunity to open future fence lines or clear vegetation ahead of spring dirt work. Some frozen woody growth may also process differently than live, stringy growth in warmer weather. Suitability depends on frost, access and snow depth, and we will review the specific property before scheduling.
Old standing dead trees can come down in a windstorm and damage fence wire. Clearing along a fence line also makes it easier to get through, check posts, repair broken wire, and keep an eye on the fence before livestock find a gap. Tell us where the fence is and what growth you want removed. Existing wire and hidden fencing must be identified before work starts.
Yes, where the terrain and access allow it. Trails can help you reach the back of an acreage, a tucked-away camping area, or a hunting location. We can discuss the route and which trees or areas you want left alone.
Yes. We can mulch and clear suitable vegetation where you plan to build a shop or other outbuilding. This opens the work area for whatever comes next. Excavation, stump and root removal, grading, and construction-ready pads are separate work.
A mulching head processes suitable brush, woody growth, and smaller trees directly on site. The resulting material generally stays on the ground, rather than being collected and hauled away.
When it's safe and practical, we can cut selected larger trees, leave them on site, delimb and stack logs to air-dry, or buck them into firewood-length rounds. Grapple-assisted log handling or off-site hauling may also be arranged. Tell us whether you want to keep the wood, and we'll discuss the extra handling work before starting.
Yes. There are different mulcher tooth options, and the finish can often be adjusted to suit your preference. We offer two finish options: Standard Mulch or Fine Mulch. Fine Mulch may require extra passes and time. It doesn't guarantee bare ground or removal of all mulch.
No. Mulching focuses on above-ground vegetation and may leave roots and low stumps. Excavation, grading, and a finished building pad are separate parts of site preparation that may require other equipment.
Yes, selective clearing is part of planning the job. Tell us where boundaries, landscaping, healthy trees, utilities, or structures need to be protected. We will review what's feasible before starting.
No. We provide an estimate to help plan the job, not a fixed-price offer. Mulching and clearing are billed for actual equipment hours worked at the rate agreed before starting. An estimate can change if vegetation, access, debris, hidden hazards, or the scope turns out different than expected.
Mobilization is the time spent transporting equipment to your property; demobilization is the return trip. These are billed separately from the time spent working on site. We will discuss the transport rate and expected travel before the job is scheduled.
We’re based in Lacombe County and generally serve Central Alberta from Leduc to Airdrie (north to south), and Castor to Rocky Mountain House (east to west). These are approximate boundaries, not a strict cutoff. For larger projects or enough work to make a longer trip worthwhile, we can consider jobs outside that area, including farther west. Equipment mobilization and demobilization are separate from on-site work, and the location and travel costs are discussed before scheduling.
